Luke6:32 "If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners love those who love them.
When it comes to loving people, we are quick to love those who love us. Most of us give our love to those that have been kind and nice to us. The true test of love comes when we love our enemies and those that are opposed to us. Jesus said, 'But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you," (Matthew5:44). You can't tell if you're walking in love until you start loving enemies. Jesus came to teach and model love to us. He had the power to deal with his enemies ruthlessly but he chose to spare them. If Christ had called down fire on those that accused and wanted to kill him, we wouldn't be saved today. Jesus and His disciples were traveling through Samaria on their way to Jerusalem when they ran into trouble. Jesus attempted to find accommodations for the night in one place but was met with opposition from the villagers, simply because His destination was Jerusalem—a result of Jew-Samaritan prejudice. “When the disciples James and John saw this, they asked, ‘Lord, do you want us to call fire down from heaven to destroy them?’” (Luke 9:54).
They thought Jesus would give them a go ahead, the bible said," But Jesus turned and rebuked them."( Luke 9:55 NLT). God is not after killing your enemies but he wants them to repent. "The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent."(2Pet3:9). You can see why most of your prayers have not been answered. God is so loving to the extent that He is still preserving the worst human for repentance. We all were once God's enemies but Paul said, "But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners."(Romans 5:8 NLT). Most of the time, we pray amiss on the issue of enemy. This is because we use our prayers to fight perceived human enemies but we neglect the real enemy- Satan.
"Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.'(1 Peter 5:8 NLT). Satan is our real enemy not that uncle or aunt in the village.Even if the devil is using those people against you, let your prayers deal with the devil. That way, you're attacking the root of the problem. Start showing love to those that hate you. Pray for them to repent. Those that despise you should be loved genuinely. That's how to get rewards. One of the ways to really show love is to pray for those are opposed to you. It is not proper to rejoice when you see your enemies falling. When you start living your life like this, you'll be like your father in heaven.
I receive grace to love my enemies in Jesus name.
