DESIRE WHAT HE WANTS FOR YOU

When I was in the university, I decided to enter a relationship. Just one. I felt I should try it out since I was about rounding off my programme. I felt it wouldn't be a bad idea to take something home to momma. I had several promptings in my Spirit warning me against my decision but I ignored them. I felt the sister was born again, brilliant and beautiful. In fact, my room mate match made us before we struck a relationship deal. At first, we were friends. At a time, I and my roommate began to receive 'cooler ministration'. My roommates convinced me that she was worth marrying. I didn't consider serious relationship at first but when food and other show of care came in, I considered what my roommates said. However, anytime I pray about it, the Spirit of God would say "No". At a time, I consciously ignored the promptings of the Spirit and I convinced myself she was the right choice for me.

In fact, I quoted scriptures to God in prayers telling God that he promised to grant me the desires of my heart. The Lord said, "Do not use scriptures to your destruction." I was manipulating scriptures to suit myself when it was clear that it wasn't God's will for me. Dearest, it is good to tell God what you want in prayers, but it is better to ask him to give you what He wants for your life. One of the hardest prayers to pray is, "Father, let your will be done." Most times, we say it in prayers but we are not sincere about it. It was God's will for Jesus to die on the cross. He knew that his assignment included the greatest sacrifice ever but in his distress he said, "O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.(Matthew 26:39). There are certain things that are plainly revealed in scriptures. For those things, we don't need to ask God for His will to be done because His will has been revealed. In that case, all we need do is to be specific in our request. However, there are areas of our lives that aren't clearly specified in the bible. There's no place in the bible where the name of your future wife is written neither will you find an instruction on the next step to take as regards your job or business. These things must be revealed by the Spirit.

However, we can either choose for ourselves and go our own way or we ask God to allow his will to be done in those areas. So many are afraid of telling God to reveal his will to them or say they are afraid of God's will prevailing over theirs. One of the signs of a life that is totally sold out to God is the ability to surrender to His will. The babes and immature loathe the idea of God's will. Carnality makes some singles think that God may give them what they don't like so they go hunting. I have heard that severally. The day you come to know God as a loving father, you'll cease from trying to impose your will on Him. God cannot give you a bad thing. Jesus said, "Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!(Matthew 7:9-11 NIV). Do not let people misrepresent God to you as a bad father. He said, "For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord . “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope."( Jer 29:11 NLT).
