Romans1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
Years back, my wife and I nicknamed my former barber 'Prophetic Barber'. Anytime I visited his salon to have my hair cut, he never failed to tell me about his prophetic Pastor. What I cannot tell is if he does that to other customers but I was assured of hearing something about his prophetic church those days. He told me the numerous prophetic exploits of his prophet and he invited me on several occasions but I didn't give it a thought. In my observation, he thought he was evangelizing me but he was preaching the wrong gospel to me. For once, he didn't speak about the crucified Christ.
"For I decided that while I was with you I would forget everything except Jesus Christ, the one who was crucified. (1Cor2:2 NLT). When you preach the gospel, it shouldn't be about your Pastor neither should it be about his exploits. The gospel is misrepresented when we tell sinners stuffs like: "If you come to my church, you'll be a millionaire in six months." The gospel offers much more. Some of the testimonies we tell to attract sinners are things that some of them have already. There must be more to the gospel. Sinners need to hear about the eternal life Christ gives(John3:16), forgiveness of sin(2Cor5:18-21) and the penalty for sin if they refuse this great salvation(John3:17-18, Rom6:23).
I love the way Philip called the attention of Nathanael to Jesus. He said, “We have found the very person Moses and the prophets wrote about! His name is Jesus, the son of Joseph from Nazareth.”(John 1:45 NLT). Hallelujah!!! The gospel is about Christ and what he has done to grant us eternal salvation. If you want to see souls saved genuinely, start preaching Christ and him crucified. The bible said, "Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and PREACHED CHRIST unto them."(Acts8:5). The early church achieved great result because they preached Christ. Who are you preaching about? Your Pastor or the messiah? Church or Christ? It is possible to be in church and not be in Christ. Preach Christ.
Father, I receive the grace to preach Christ in Jesus name
