A preacher announced the commencement of his church building project the other day. A young man went to the comment section to spew bile and invectives. He gave reasons why the project is a waste. Unfortunately for him, he met his match and they dragged him too.
In an economy that is not working, I understand that people will vent their anger against the church when they see their projects because they assume the church should ameliorate economic problems. Well, that is not the primary assignment of the church though they can intervene in a little way.
I have seen people with critical spirits and a touch of bitterness. They always have an opinion about the success and progress of others. Their opinion is always in the negative. They always have reasons why they think someone should not have spent his money that way.
In their minds, they always think "It should have been me". Sometimes, they think like "If it were me". They always think they could have done better If they were in the position of that person but they fail to understand grace is given differently.
One thing you must rid yourself of and flush out of your life is subtle bitterness about others especially when they are making progress. That is not the time to make a press release. Even If you have a valid opinion that is not conventional, you may have to keep it to yourself so you won't be perceived wrongly.
I want you to form the habit of thanking God for what he is doing in the lives of others while trusting God for yours. You should not be found denigrating the progress others are making. God saw you when he gave grace and favour to the other person. While you think the other person doesn't deserve it, your father in heaven knows why he has elected that person for that privilege.
Throwing shades and tongue lashing those making progress is an indirect way of telling God he got it wrong by blessing them.
I always counsel that If we all face our assignments and give it our all, we'll amount to something. Looking at another man's field when you should be tilling your ground will pause your own progress. That way, you won't go far. Stop placing a peg on your progress.
