Sometime ago, I engaged a driver in a discussion. I boarded his vehicle from Ibadan to Lagos. Our discussion started after driving through an accident scene where people lost their lives but some survived. He boasted about how he cannot have accident. He was so confident about it.
Little did I know that his confidence was diabolic. He told us that it is impossible to work as a driver of public bus and not seek diabolical help because of things like accident and protection from harm. He told us a charm is somewhere close to his engine and nothing can happen. He has forgotten those who had stronger charms still died cheaply.
As an aside, before you board any public vehicle, be sensitive and prayerful. Though most of these drivers seek demonic help to prevent accident yet those demons take something else to prevent the death of the drivers during accident. It could even be the passengers who will die in place of the driver.
The sad thing about the whole discussion was that he professed to be a Christian, a member of a popular mega pentecostal church. In fact, he showed us his picture while in church dressed in suit. He opined that the name of Jesus is not enough, something else must be added.
Today's opening text makes it clear that those who seek help from Egypt will partake in sorrow. They will become a victim of the very thing they are running from. Diabolic powers fail but only God's power will not fail.
Psalm 16:4 says, "Troubles multiply for those who chase after other gods. I will not take part in their sacrifices of blood or even speak the names of their gods"( NLT).
Do not allow the empty promises of diabolic people entice you. They don't end well. It may appear as though they are prospering and getting what they desire but Satan gives nothing for free. He gives those who seek his help something and takes another thing from them. He is a shrewd trader.
Any help that requires adding something to the name of Jesus should be avoided at all cost. Our allegiance is to one master in good and bad times. We must learn to stick to him.
