Back in the days when I was residing at Asaba, we experienced a great flood in my vicinity that made some people pack out of their houses. It was so much that we could not walk on dry grounds for weeks. We placed a flat facing board on blocks and walked on it into our lodge that period. It took weeks before the flood rescinded. When we inquired to know why a part of the city was flooded, we were told that they opened the dam.
That is akin to what I want to share with you in this series. When you talk too much, you are opening a 'dam' that should have remained closed first for your safety and then for the safety others.
When the dam of your mouth is opened, sin flows freely. Sin is not far from the man that talks too much.
The bible made it clear that “Whoever guards his mouth and tongue keeps his soul from troubles” (Proverbs 21:23). Meaning that when you talk too much, you are prone to troubles, physical and spiritual. Some came under heavy spiritual attack because they said what they should not have said. They did not keep secret what out to be kept secret.
Know this, everyone does not need to know your progress. The moment you share certain victories and attainments, you may lose it. The bible says, “He who guards his mouth preserves his life, but he who opens wide his lips shall have destruction” (Proverbs 13:3).
Sometimes, preservation comes when you keep sealed lips. From today, I want you to tame your tongue. You don't have to talk everytime to everyone. I call you blessed.
