Today is the last day this year. You are alive to witness this day and to partake in God's new mercies today. You may look at your life and not see any reason why you should thank the Lord but you have life. That alone is enough reason to thank the Lord.
Satan will give you reasons why you should not give thanks to God. One killer of the thanksgiving spirit is comparison. We'll compare our lives with others seeing what they have that we do not have. Often, we also forget that there are things we have that others do not have. That is why the possession of "things" should not be our determinant of thanksgiving.
Anytime you base your thanksgiving on what you have or possess, Satan will dampen your spirit by making you see what you don't have. The truth is that no man have it all. There will be something you do not have at certain times in your life.
Your thanksgiving should be focused on his mercies and faithfulness over your life. His mercies is the reason you are still alive. Every other thing you don't have now will be made available to you in his time. Take your gaze away from what you don't have and fix your gaze on his mercies and lovingkindness.
What you are looking for is inside life, that is, they will come as long as you are alive. Be grateful for life. Thank him for your journies throughout the year, his interventions, provisions and protection. Do not be ungrateful.
The coming year will only yield its harvest If you enter into it with praises and thankgiving not with murmuring.
Psalms 67:5&6 says, "Let the peoples praise You, O God; Let all the peoples praise You. [6] Then the earth shall yield her increase; God, our own God, shall bless us" ( NKJV).
