Looking back at the teenage season of my life when I engaged in sexual immorality, one thing I observed that fueled it was my association. I found myself among people whose values for sexual purity was zero.
I remember vividly how an adult around me instructed that I get him pornographic video. Those were days of VHS. I went searching for porn video unlike today where you can watch them online.
A secondary school classmate gave me a video. She called it "blue film" but it was just another regular movie. When I gave the person who sent me, he felt displeased after watching it. Eventually, he got real porn video and we watched it together. That was how my soul was corrupted.
One thing about sexual immorality you need to know is that it is highly contagious. There is a spirit behind sexual immorality that makes it spread like cancer within a circle or association of people. Sometimes, the spirit of immorality can be communicated to another person.
What do I mean? Listening to someone who is battling with lust (even If he is a preacher) can make you come in contact with that same spirit. Why? Our soul is an open channel that is receptive to the spirit behind whatever it is we are exposed to.
This is also the reason why sexually explicit videos, soft porn, lewd music and skits can communicate immorality into the soul of those given to it. I want to believe the same applies to acts of sexual perversion.
Apostle Paul knew how infectious sexual immorality is, that was why he said: I wrote you in my previous letter asking you NOT TO ASSOCIATE with those who practice sexual immorality (1 Corinthians5:9 TPT).
If you don't want to fall victim of sexual immorality, do not associate with those who practice sexual immorality. It is simple! Brothers, guys who don't value sexual purity should not be your friend. Sisters, your best pal shouldn't be that lady jumping from one bed to the other. It is just a matter of time, you'll be infected.
I have heard about girls who deliberately lost their virginity because some other ladies made virginity look outdated. They looked for a guy to deflower them. That is the power of association right there.
Men with side chicks should not be your friend. Very soon, they'll introduce you to a girl who will be your side chick and you'll be the side cock. They will convince you out of your purity and give you reasons to have someone who will constantly warm your bed.
As a Christian woman, you should not be proud to have a friend who is adulterer who has given it another coloration. Today, women don't call their sexual partners manfriend any longer. They call them helpers of destiny. Dear woman, you don't need helpers of destiny, you need God.
"And have nothing to do with sexual immorality, lust, or greed—for you are his holy ones and let no one be able to accuse you of them in any form" ( Eph 5:3 TPT)
One of the ways to keep your value for sexual purity intact is to relate with people who share similar values. Paul was very hard in his counsel to the Corinthian church over this issue.
"But now I’m writing to you so that you would exclude from your fellowship anyone who calls himself a fellow believer and practices sexual immorality, or is consumed with greed,... Don’t mingle with them or even have a meal with someone like that" (1 Cor 5:11 TPT).
