STAND ON THE PLATFORM OF OBEDIENCE

October 13, 2016 · Lanre Oyeleke · 2 views

Hebrews4:11 So let us do our best to enter that rest. But if we disobey God, as the people of Israel did, we will fall. NLT

Recently, there has been much revelation about our salvation but with those revelations comes extreme teachings that aren't balanced. Several positions have been taken by some that a Christian cannot fall, one of such writers was even saying if a Christian falls, he wasn't saved in the first place. Another school of taught is trying to say that obedience is works and as such it is not needed.

All these are gargantuan errors that if not checked, it would create confusion and make believers live recklessly. The scripture above was written to believers and it was said that IF WE DISOBEY GOD, like the Israelites did, we will fall. Under this dispensation of grace, there is a demand for obedience from us. Do not say Christ has obeyed God for me on the cross and that's all.

You must keep in mind that you are saved by grace (without works of the law) through faith but faith without works

of obedience is dead. You are not trying to buy salvation with your life style of obedience but rather, you are living out your new status. If someone calls himself a doctor but cannot diagnose a patient correctly, won't we doubt his expertise? Obedience to God is an expected life style under grace.
