Jer6:16 This is what the LORD says:
“Stop at the crossroads and look around.
Ask for the old, godly way, and walk in it.
Travel its path, and you will find rest for your souls. But you reply, ‘No, that’s not the road we want!’ NLT
The Lord spoke through Prophet Jeremiah to the nation of Israel that has gone a whoring after other gods and fake prophets that they should ask for the old, goldly way and walk in it because therein lies their rest. The same word applies to us today; many are looking for rest, peace and God in places and things where there is none.
Paul the apostle of grace in ITim4:8 made it clear to us that godliness is profitable unto all things. Godliness is an ancient, ageless and timeless attribute that God expect from us. You cannot outgrow godliness as it is what makes you different from the common man on the street. Apparently, ungodliness rules in our society and that is why we keep having problems in the society.
If my salvation and faith in Jesus Christ doesn't reflect godliness in me, of what use is my salvation? Paul knew this and that was why he stressed on the same point that God told Jeremiah about. You don't live carelessly as a believer; God is expecting you to live like His ambassador here on earth. People should see you and see Christ.
Father, I receive the grace to walk on the ancient path of godliness In Jesus name. Amen
