1Pet1:13 So think clearly and exercise self-control. Look forward to the gracious salvation that will come to you when Jesus Christ is revealed to the world. 14 So you must live as God’s obedient children. Don’t slip back into your old ways of living to satisfy your own desires. You didn’t know any better then. NLT
The issue of salvation whether it can be lost has remained an issue of argument in the body of Christ but I'm not holding brief for anyone on the matter. From the scripture above, I discovered that our transport to heaven when Christ comes is referred to as salvation even after our initial salvation when we came into Christ. In Romans13:11, we were told that our salvation is nearer than when we first believed.
In a nutshell, after our initial salvation where we were justified by grace, our final salvation is in view and it takes diligence in obedience to God to obtain that salvation. Obedience to God is not works (of the law) because we are no longer under the law but grace (Rom6:14). In Christ, we are bound by the law of Christ( Gal6:2)which is the law of the Spirit of life in Christ(Rom8:1-2) referring to the fruit of the Spirit.
We should look forward to that day when we shall rapture with Christ and be with God in heaven. The hope heaven (which is the salvation to come) is a good reason to stay pure.
1John3:3 says 'And all who have this eager expectation will keep themselves pure, just as he is pure.'
Father, I receive the grace to stay pure for the coming salvation In Jesus name.
