1Thes2:3 So you can see we were not preaching with any deceit or impure motives or trickery.(4)For we speak as messengers approved by God to be entrusted with the Good News. Our purpose is to please God, not people. He alone examines the motives of our hearts. NLT
Sometimes ago, I was in a programme where a minister raised a special offering and took the offering away. When such ministers want to raise offering, they trick people and sweet talk the people so that they can give their monies knowing fully well that the more the offering, the better it is for their pocket. Paul called it preaching with impure motives or trickery.
As a minister, your motive for being in the ministry should be to fulfil the assignment God has given you because of your love to see men become more like Christ. If you think of your pocket first, you cannot have an impactful ministry. I don't believe in ministers charging honorarium for kingdom assignment but I believe that a minister of the gospel should be properly cared for.
If you are a minister of the gospel or you've sensed the call of God upon your life to be in ministry, erase the love for monetary gains from your mind if you want to go far. Your motive should be to serve and not be served. Don't jump into ministry because of the fame, titles and prestige attached to it, there is more to ministry than that. Allow God to work in and through you to prepare you for the task.
Father, I receive the grace to discharge my assignments from a pure motive In Jesus name. Amen
