Genesis 18:19 For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the Lord , to do justice and judgment; that the Lord may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him. KJV
DISCIPLESHIP FAILURE
Another tactics of Pharoah was to isolate the children from the fathers so that they won't learn the ways of the Lord through sound teaching and discipleship. He knew that if they(children) learn about the ways of Yahweh, they would rebel against his government and topple it over. Pharoah wanted to condition their mind perpetually so that they can think and act like slaves for the rest of their life, whereas they are royalty.
This tactics of Pharoah is at work today. The home is the primary place for learning the ways of the Lord. That's where thorough bible study and discipleship should start not the church but parents push this responsibity to church and school. I thank God for the Sunday school classes that I attended as a child. In my humble opinion, I think the greatest influence in my foundational years were my parents. I had the knowledge of scriptures from home. My mum bought a jotter for all of us and she mandated us to write short sermons. I don't struggle to write devotionals because it has been part of from my teenage years.
The devil knows that if the fathers can sit their children down to teach them the ways of the Lord from scriptures, they would not be deceived by Pharoah. He tries to prevent this in almost every family. Teaching the next generation is so important because if we don't , there won't be anyone to continue in the values that we have imbibed. At a time in Israel, there arose a generation that didn't know God(Judges2:10). I asked to know the reason. The only answer i got was because the fathers failed to disciple the next generation. Abraham succeeded in this regard and God was proud of him(Gen 18:19). What will God say about you?
Father, I receive the grace to disciple the next generation properly In Jesus name.
