Psalms 23:6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever. KJV
DWELLING IN GOD'S HOUSE
David ended his Psalm in chapter 23 by declaring his desire to dwell in God's house forever. In Psalm 26:8, David declares, “O LORD, I love the habitation of your house and the place where your glory dwells.” In the following psalm, David professes this yearning to be the singular drive of his heart, saying, “One thing have I asked of the LORD, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to inquire in his temple” (27:4).In Psalm 84:1-2, written by the sons of Korah, it says, “How lovely is your dwelling place, O LORD of hosts! My soul longs, yes, faints for the courts of the LORD; my heart and my flesh sing for joy to the living God,” and pronounces, “Blessed are those who dwell in your house” (84:1–2, 4).
Physically, the house of the Lord is the gathering of the saints. David aptly expresses his joy, "I was glad when they said unto me, let us go to the house of the Lord" ( Psalms122:1). Similar to this desire to be in God's house was what the disciples expressed about Jesus: "And his disciples remembered that it was written, The zeal of thine house hath eaten me up. We can go on and on.You cannot be walking in the realities of Psalms 23 without being committed to a sheep station- a bible believing church. That's one of the places where the Shepherd( Pastor) sent by the Great shepherd can nurture you.
In Luke 16:4, we were told that it was customary for Jesus to go to the synagogue. If that was the custom of the great shepherd, shouldn't you(the sheep) have the same custom? The writer of Hebrews enjoined that we should not forsake the assembly of the brethren(10:25). It is hard for wolves to kill a sheep that is in the midst of other sheep. Do take fellowship serious and never dissociate.Further, the ultimate house of the Lord( Heaven) where pains and sorrows shall cease should be our daily longing.
CONFESSION: I walk in the realities of Psalms 23. I am consumed by the zeal for God's house. I draw strength, wisdom and power from God's house in Jesus name.
