Psalms23:5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
ANOINTED FOR VICTORY
The Hebrew word 'Dissanta' was translated as 'anoint' in the text above. It is not the same as 'Mashach' which is the word translated as anoint/ anointing in other portions of scriptures. What does 'Dissanta' mean? It means to make fat or make healthy or to freshen. The literal translation of that verse should read: “You have freshened/fattened my head with oil”. What does the Psalmist mean when he made this statement? In this verse, the psalmist is praising the Lord for giving him everything he needs especially the strength to defeat his enemies, including the confidence to be victorious.
In effect, he says to the Lord, “You have anointed me with oil. And through this anointing you have given me the strength, vibrancy, and confidence that I need to defeat my enemies.” Hallelujah!!! You are anointed for victory over the onslaught of the enemy. The Holy Spirit in your life is the anointing of God on your life not the anointing oil. The day you got baptized in the Holy Spirit, the self-generating power of God entered you. Now you have the strength to face and conquer life's battles. Our challenge most times isn't lack of power neither is it the unavailability of power but lack of knowledge about the power that we have.
The life of a believer is programmed for victorious living. God may not kill the enemies because they have a role to play but he would strengthen you to live above them. Paul understood this to be the nature of God that was why he prayed, "That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;(Eph 3:16)". You need to desire the fattening( strengthening) of your inner man. As you pray in the Holy Ghost on daily basis and study the scriptures meditatively, your inner man would be made fat.Stop getting fat physically at the expense of your spirit man that is malnourished.
CONFESSION: My inner man, start growing fat as you feed on scriptures and as I pray in the Spirit. I walk in the realities of Psalm 23 in the name of Jesus.
