RESTORATION OF THE BACKSLIDDEN
There was a brother I knew years back. He was on fire for the Lord but at a point, he lost it. This brother was a mighty teacher of scriptures, an evangelist and leader. He committed fornication and he went down till he began to drink alcohol heavily. I was in the company of the brethren sometimes ago when we met him on a Sunday after several years. One of those in our company told him that, "once a soldier always a soldier". He replied by saying that, "as a soldier, I was wounded in the battle but thank God I didn't die". Based on his testimony, he is restored and back in the ministry. That is what God can do.
God is still in the business of restoring the backsliders. We humans have a way of casting people away. We give up on people easily. Most times, when we see our brothes or sisters in Christ going astray, instead of praying and giving counsel, we make them the subject of our 'holy' gossip. This is very common to church folks. God doesn't act that way. In the parable of the lost sheep, the shepherd secured ninety-nine sheep to go and search for just one sheep that is lost(Luke 15:1-7). Humanly speaking, one sheep is not worth the stress of searching through the wilderness but to the great shepherd, one sheep is worth eternity with Christ.
I don't know the height from which you have fallen. Your backward movement in the faith maybe because of cares and anxieties or sin. It maybe because of a discouraging circumstance. I am glad to tell you that the shepherd want to restore you to the place of fellowship and communion with him. God cannot afford to lose you to the devil. One of the tricks of the devil to keep you down in your backslidden state is to tell you that God cannot accept nor forgive you. He may even tell you to keep sinning since forgiveness has eluded you. All those are lies from the pit of hell. You are the lost sheep Jesus is looking for.Return home.
CONFESSION: I walk in the realities of Psalms 23. I receive the restoration ministry of the Spirit. I leave my backslidden state and I'm coming home. I return to the place of fellowship and consistent communion with the father. I will not stray anymore.
