Psalms23:3...he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. KJV

DISCIPLED FOR RIGHTEOUS LIVING

One of the duties of the shepherd is to lead the sheep on the right path always. Most times, sheep don't know the path to thread neither do they know what to do because they are innocent. The innocence and naivety of sheep is one reason why they could go astray. The work of the shepherd is to give instruction, direction and monitor the sheep for full compliance.

After restoration, the next thing is discipleship. It is one thing to get someone that has gone astray restored, it is another thing to help that person understand the dynamics of right living. This can be taught and monitored through a systematic discipleship process. The shepherd is the discipler of the sheep, who is your discipler? Don't get me wrong, Jesus is our chief discipler but he has assigned people to carry on the work of discipleship for him. No true believer should outgrow discipleship regardless of height, status or position. True believers belong to a church, they are consistent there and submissive to the leadership of the local assembly where they belong.

A disciple is taught to observe the commands of Jesus not just fed with knowledge. It is good to be fed with knowledge of scriptures but it is better to be taught the dynamics of Christ-like living. That is what Jesus meant when he said, "Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you:...(Matthew 28:20)". The fruit of discipleship is righteous living. The man that would walk in the realities of Psalm must be a sheep under a shepherd that is interested in leading the people on the path of righteousness.

Action point

CONFESSION: I receive the grace to stay under my God-ordained shepherd. I receive instruction for Christ-like living. Henceforth, I shall observe the commands of the great shepherd. I walk in the realities of Psalms 23 in the name of Jesus.
