Eph 5:15 See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,
WALK CIRCUMSPECTLY
The word circumspect was derived from Latin circumspicere, "to be cautious." The basic meaning of Latin circumspicere is "to look around." Near synonyms are prudent and cautious. The word of God is saying that as believers, we must be cautious in our daily walk because there is great evil in our world today. There are several areas of life where we need to be circumspect especially in the choices we make.
In our relationships with people, we must be circumspect. One of the reasons why Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to us was because he wanted us to be properly guided in all areas of our life- relationship inclusive. As believers, how should we relate with others? Who should be in our company? These questions and many more would guide us in living a circumspect life.
In 2Cor6:14, Apostle Paul enjoined that we should not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. Your best friend and adviser should not be an unbeliever. Towing that path is a sign that you lack wisdom. In marriage, you should not be united with an unbeliever. Don't be deceived by the niceness and show affection of that unbelieving suitor. He/she could be a ticking time-bomb. In our day-to-day living, it is wise to pursue peace with men(Heb12:14) because it is to our benefit.
