THE BELIEVER'S WALK Pt.6

1 John 2:6 He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked. KJV

WALKING AS HE WALKED

I did a study on 1 John chapter 2 so that I can understand the context of Apostle John's statement in verse 6. I discovered that he hit the nail on the head in verses 10 and 11; 'He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him. But he that hateth his brother is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because that darkness hath blinded his eyes". The 'he' being referred to in that chapter is Jesus. So how did Jesus walk? He walked in love. That was how he walked. The message of love cannot be overemphasized.

You cannot say you love God and hate your brother. On this side of eternity, we cannot see God but we can see our fellow humans created in the likeness and image of God. The opposite of love is hatred. What is hatred? It is to have ill-feeling towards someone or something. It is to abhor or dislike. We try to paint hatred with the word 'dislike' but they are synonyms. Jesus didn't hate us even in our state of horrible sins(Romans5:8). He hates sin( the act and state of transgression) but he loves sinners( the person). The test of love would come when you're hated and despised or when you are offended.

Nations have gone to war against one another, brothers have betrayed one another simply because of hatred. I see people seeking deliverance from all forms of demonic bondages but I'm yet to see someone seeking to be delivered from that demon of hatred because they think it is inconsequential whereas many would go to hell because of hatred. Jesus was hated and despised yet he responded with love and compassion. At the point of arrest, he fixed the ear of Malchus the high priest's servant(Luke 22:51, John 18:10). If it were you, would you do that? It was easy for the anointing to flow through Jesus because everything about him was love. That was how he walked.

Action point

Father, uproot every root of bitterness and hatred in me today in Jesus name.
