DON'T TAMPER WITH THE WORD

April 12, 2021 · Lanre Oyeleke · 3 views

Mark 7:13 And so you cancel the word of God in order to hand down your own tradition. And this is only one example among many others.”

I was talking to a young man in a village sometime ago. He professed to be a christian but he told me that whenever they want to celebrate their local deity, everyone in their family must be present even if they are pastors. Himself told me he attended a bible school and I expected that he should have divorced himself from the tradition of men based on knowledge of scriptures. There are several human traditions that stand against what the scripture teaches.

The religious leaders in the time of Jesus were traditionalists. They placed the customs and traditions of their fathers above the word. Some believers are guilty of the same thing. When matters arise, they'll say things like, "let's leave the bible aside". The moment you hear that statement, someone is about to impose the tradition of men and tamper with the word of God. Never leave the bible aside in the affairs of your life. The principles in the bible should be your guiding light on matters pertaining to life not the traditions of men.

The tradition of men cuts across all spheres of life, ministry inclusive. The moment you follow the traditions of men, your life will produce the result men produced. The word of God is incomparable with the traditions of men. God's word is supra culture. Psalms 119:89 says, "For ever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven". God's word is heavenly, stick to it.

Action point

I refuse to tamper with the word of God because of human tradition and I receive the grace to stick to God's word in Jesus name.
