INGREDIENTS OF FAITH Pt.4

Romans4:19-20 And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sara's womb: He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; KJV

CHANGE YOUR FOCUS AND GIVE THANKS

At the onset of symptoms after I tested positive, I read so many online articles on COVID-19. It was as though all I saw in the news was COVID. I was following the reports on the daily number of infections, discharge and deaths in Ghana. That was the period Donald Trump, Cristiano Ronaldo and other public figures had COVID. I read almost all scholarly articles about COVID and I asked plenty questions from the medics. After my bible reading, COVID information was the next and I did that more than I read my bible. How wrong! I also noticed that the many information I bombarded my mind with made me cold and withdrawn. I stopped writing daily devotionals and I avoided relating with people because the devil made me feel I have a problem that needed 100% attention.

I assigned someone to post old devotionals on our social media platforms. One day, in our morning devotion, the man of God we stayed with said that one of the ways to fight the fight of faith and win is never to give the devil too much attention by focusing on our problems. He further said that if there was anything we were doing that was blessing lives(e.g writing of daily devotional), we shouldn't stop. I knew God was talking to me through him. Immediately, I told the brother who was posting old devotionals on our social media platforms that I'll resume duty. When he heard that, he was happy. From the day I shifted my attention from feeding my mind with daily COVID-19 update, my faith grew stronger.

Faith becomes weak when you focus on your problems than on the word. Some persons went into hiding from friends, families and the brethren because of their challenges. It could be because of barrenness, joblessness or singleness. They listen to news and people who speak more about their problems. The worst is when they stop being a blessing to others because they feel they need to focus on their problems. That's the devil at work. In the opening text, we were told that Abraham didn't consider his aged body and deadness of Sarah's womb but remained strong in the faith. If he had given attention to what the gynaecologists said about Sarah, his faith would be weak. Stop reading about or listening to whatever feed your fears and weaken your faith. Thank God father Abraham didn't give the devil attention rather he gave thanks. Don't allow the devil draw your attention away from God's promises. Maintain your word-based confessions, live a life of thanksgiving and go about your daily duties as if nothing is happening.

CONFESSION: God's word is at work in me. It won't fail. I am triumphant in Jesus name.

N:B We shall be going to the mission field for another outreach between April 21st-25th. We need your prayers and support. If you have used clothes, shoes, bags and other gift items, kindly call Bro Monday to pick them up: 08069526360.
