RETURN TO THE SPIRIT'S MOMENTUM

Joel2:13 And rend your heart and not your garments.” Now return to the Lord your God, For He is gracious and compassionate, Slow to anger, abounding in lovingkindness And relenting of evil.

Momentum is a term in mechanics that refers to mass in motion. In lay man's understanding, it is synonymous with energy, drive or force. In the early Church, we saw a people that were driven by the power, zeal and energy of the Holy Spirit. After the Holy Spirit came upon them on the day of Pentecost, they began to operate in the supernatural. In Acts 5:15-16 we read, “People brought the sick into the streets and laid them on beds and mats so that at least Peter’s shadow might fall on some of them as he passed by. Crowds gathered also from the towns around Jerusalem, bringing their sick and those tormented by evil spirits, and all of them were healed”.

They( early believers) had a church where the gifts of the Spirit flowed without restrictions. They didn't fake the manifestations of the Spirit because they were vessels through whom the Spirit flowed without hindrance. The power of God was so thick amidst them to the extent that lying had immediate consequence: "Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God. And Ananias hearing these words fell down, and gave up the ghost: and great fear came on all them that heard these things", Acts 5:4-5 KJV. In a church like this, who would dare God by living a double life?

We need to return to the Spirit's momentum. Enough of powerless and sloppy Christianity that cannot prove the Lordship of Jesus Christ to people. There's so much noise and display of physical energy on the altar without a corresponding life changing result. Who says the world wouldn't hear the gospel if it is backed by power? Speaking about Jesus, Luke 4:14 says, "Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit, and news about him spread through the whole countryside". Men began to follow Jesus everywhere after he launched out with power of the Spirit. You can gather the Spirit's momentum only in the place of fellowship. As you stay in God's presence, He will fill you with himself afresh.
