WHY YOU'RE NOT LED BY THE SPIRIT Pt.3

April 28, 2021 · Lanre Oyeleke · 2 views

Proverbs3:5-5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. NLT

FULL OF SELF

I have interacted with several people(singles inclusive) who believe God doesn't lead people in matters that pertains to marriage and other areas of life. Most people with this mentality believe that instead of God to lead, they're to find what they want and present it to God for ratification. They don't trust God's judgement to give them what he desires, they want to impose their will on God. Unfortunately, those in this category have scriptural backing( in a twisted form) for their assertions. They're full of themselves and their ways and do not have a submissive heart to God's will. They prefer to impose their will on God than to be led by him.

The man that is full of his own ways will never be led by God. The opening text tells us to acknowledge God in ALL( no exception) our ways, then he will direct our path. That's a vital criteria for receiving divine direction. One reason believers allow self in decision making is because they don't have faith in God's leading. The devil deceives them to believe God's will may not be the best. They always fail to see God as a loving father who will not give them poison. Speaking about the loving nature of God, Jesus said, "You parents—if your children ask for a loaf of bread, do you give them a stone instead? Or if they ask for a fish, do you give them a snake? Of course not! So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask him", Matthew 7:9-11 NLT.

God is a loving father who will not give you what will damage your life. No he won't. In Jeremiah 29:11, he said, "For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord . “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope", Jeremiah 29:11 NLT. Whatever makes you think God's best is inferior is from the evil one. To be led by God, you must play the fool. Act as though you know nothing and have no other person to lead except him. If truly you want to hear from God, empty yourself of your own ways and acknowledge him in all you, then he'll direct your path.
