TETELESTAI: BILL PAID IN FULL

April 03, 2021 · Lanre Oyeleke · 2 views

John 19:30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost. KJV

Most people believe in the importance of the last words of a man before death. The last words of Christ on the cross is "It is finished." That sentence is pregnant with a deep meaning than what we may understand it to mean in English language. Found only in the Gospel of John, the Greek word translated “it is finished” is tetelestai, an accounting term that means “paid in full.” The word "tetelestai" was also written on business documents or receipts in New Testament times indicating that a bill had been paid in full.

What transaction did Jesus pay for? Who owed the debt? In Romans 3:23, Paul said, "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;". The debt that Jesus paid for was the debt of sin. Mankind was on a downward spiral into Christless eternity. God saw it fit to send his son in the likeness of man to come and pay the debt we owe. Hallelujah!!! My sins have been paid for in full. I'm not trying to sacrifice to get them paid, someone's sacrifice paid for it once and for all: "Christ suffered for our sins once for all time. He never sinned, but he died for sinners to bring you safely home to God. He suffered physical death, but he was raised to life in the Spirit", 1Pet3:18.

To expound further, whatever sin has brought upon your life is part of the "Tetelestai" transaction. He had paid for it all. Don't let the devil tell you that you have to partake in the generational curse operating in your family neither should you accept sickness and other dirty dozens of his as normal. When Christ breathe his last, he saw into the future and all the devil may want to bring upon your life and he said: "It is finished: I have paid the bill in full". I want you to stand on the word of God and reject the bill of sickness, frustration, despair, depression and a life of failure that the enemy is writing with your name attached to it. Tell the devil you no longer owe him a dime because someone paid your bill in full so that you can free. Hallelujah!!!

Action point

Thank you for paying my debt. Hallelujah!!! My sins are fully paid for. I am free from condemnation. Devil, take your nonsense(...mention name) out of my life and family in Jesus name.
