Recently, I read about a man that was unjustly locked behind the bars for seven months because he had an altercation with a rich man. The man used his influence to punish him without proper trial and left him there to suffer.
After seven months, his ex class mates in secondary school heard about it, they got a lawyer and he was freed. When one of them spoke, he said the man had cut off from everyone since the early 90s when they left secondary school and had been living in isolation.
He was surprised that no one from his family helped him. He counseled that no one should live in isolation. Further, he encouraged that people should identify with a church, alumni associations and other groups where they can get help in time of need. I agree with him.
Those who live in isolation often suffer in isolation. I have seen people who are in need of help but have no one to turn to not because they don't have people who can help but they choose to live life all alone. Eventually, when they are pushed to the wall, they reachout to people they have no connection with.
This is common in this age of social media. Someone will slide into the direct message of people they don't know on facebook and start asking for help. I have asked where their families, friends and church members are but I noticed a number of those who behave this way live in isolation.
No deep connection with their churches/pastors to the point where they can receive help. Some don't have churches while others are at loggerheads with their families. A believer should not live this way.
In Acts 4:23, after Peter and John were freed from their interrogation with the religious rulers of that day, the bible says, "And being let go, THEY WENT TO THEIR OWN COMPANY, and reported all that the chief priests and elders had said unto them".
Even Peter and John had a company they could fall back on. They were not living in isolation. Little wonder why that same company( the church) prayed Peter out of prison when he wanted to be killed by Herod.
The bible says, "But while Peter was in prison, the church( His company) prayed very earnestly for him" (Acts 12:5 NLT Emphasis mine).
Imagine Peter had no company that could pray for him, he may have died by the sword of Herod. I am sure If what Peter needed was financial help, he could have gotten it because he had a company, he was not living in isolation.
