IT COULD BE AS SIMPLE AS BEING AN ANNOUNCER

*Matthew 3:[3]* The prophet Isaiah was speaking about John when he said, “He is a voice shouting in the wilderness, ‘Prepare the way for the Lord’s coming! Clear the road for him!’”

Most times, when some are making enquiries from the Spirit about their purpose and assignments in life, they often expect God to give them prominent assignments that will put them in the spotlight as the leader or boss. In fact, it is common to hear people write out revelations of great things the Lord told them about their destiny but much of what you see is a drive for prominence.

Ever since I have been seeing brethren share with me about what the Lord is telling them to do, It is rate to find anyone who specifically said God told me to serve as an assistant or to play second fiddle. There are but they are few. I am yet to see sisters or ladies who will speak like Oretha Hagin who said my assignment is to keep the home front while my husband is away preaching so that I can raise his children to fulfill God's purpose.

To many, that's not an assignment from God yet, the third generation of that family is actively serving the Lord because one woman played her uncommon God-given role in the days when most wives of preachers want to be vice presidents or next to their husbands in leadership. Our world has formed an order for God instead of finding God's order for their lives.

Have you considered John the baptist's ministry? The major assignment of John the baptist was to prepare the way for the coming of Christ by announcing and showing him to Israel. That's all. Imagine God sending someone to earth for the sole assignment of announcing who the messiah was to his generation. In fact, John announced Christ very well. Some scholars believe his assignment on earth ended after baptizing Christ.

In John 1:29-30 when Christ came on scene, the bible says,  "The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. [30] This is he of whom I said, After me cometh a man which is preferred before me: for he was before me". He announced him again in the public.

Before Christ came on the scene, John had some prominence and was in the spotlight but as soon as the Messiah arrived, John gradually stepped off the scene to the point where his own disciples reported Christ to him because they saw him baptizing people. May be they felt jealous Christ was taking the shine off their master.

John's response was classic: "[28] Ye yourselves bear me witness, that I said, I am not the Christ, but that I am sent before him. [30] HE MUST INCREASE BUT I MUST DECREASE. [31] He that cometh from above is above all: he that is of the earth is earthly, and speaketh of the earth: he that cometh from heaven is above all"(John 3:28, 30-31 KJV)

Dearest, your life's assignment may not be something bogus, you may have been sent by heaven to assist another man in his assignment in a world where everyone wants to be number one. Yours may be to stay back  and keep the home front for an itinerant preacher and raise his children well. When others are fighting to have the microphone to preach, your assignment may be to engage in secret intercession for your leader to succeed without being known.

Do not joke with what God has committed into your hands even If it seems not to be popular or something that will keep you off the scene. In fulfulling God's purpose, we are not called to be popular,we are called to be faithful. Please, remain faithful. It could be as simple as being an announcer.

Action Point:

Father, I receive the grace to remain faithful to my assignment here on earth in the name of Jesus Christ.
