I used to be a very rigid person when it comes to personal plans, goals and ambition. No thanks to the motivational messages I heard in time past. Those messages made me to be stubbornly rigid to achieve my own ambitions not miniding the will of God for my life.
Later, when I began to learn about God's will and his plan, it dawned on me that a man's plan for his life may be at variance with God's and that being in the will of God is the best place to be. That knowledge changed the course of my entire life.
I thank God I read "Plans, Purposes&Pursuit" by Kenneth E. Hagin of blessed memory. If I hadn't come in contact with that book and some of his other materials, I may not be where I am today. The book stirred in me the desire to seek the will of God for my life.
God interrupted me in so many ways, rid me of personal ambition that fuels pride and ego. Today, I am where I am doing what the Lord want me to do. This has given me so much peace and joy because I am at the centre of his will for my life. I find fulfilment doing what I am doing.
The message about the pursuit of God's will is scarce today. That emphasis has reduced drastically. It is now a world of personal plans and ambitions and then we seek God's endorsement for what he did not ordain. Sadly, some saints have subscribed to this. Unlike the days when believers were taught never to take a major step until they seek the mind of God on a matter.
The opening text says you can make many plans, but what will prevail is the Lord's purpose. This is only possible If you allow his purpose for your life to prevail. Many times, our plans stand in opposition to the plan and purpose of God for our lives. We are full of ourselves and we think our ways are the best.
After running with personal plans and ambitions for years, some will realize they've been on the wrong track for decades. This is common to those resisting God's call into the ministry at a younger age. After retirement, they try to start what they ought to have started in their youthful years but it is often too late.
It is not bad to have personal plans but please don't be rigid with your plans. Satan's deceit is the reason God's will seems unnattractive. He makes our plans appear better but the end is often filled with regrets.
The bible says, "There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end it leads to death"( Proverbs 14:12 NIV).
Allow God to interrupt your plans in such a way that he can redirect you into his will. That's the best place to be. Don't be too rigid.
Jeremiah 29:11 says "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end".
