When I was single, I read several books and I listened to several messages and teachings on marriage. Some preachers taught singles that God no longer give wives to anyone because Adam complained about Eve to God.
They taught that since then, God changed his style and now the principle is "Whosoever findeth a wife...". They emphasize on the finding aspect as the sole responsibility of the brother without involving God. They opined that it is what you find you present to God for ratification.
Well, I find this idea a little disturbing because it removes God from the equation of finding. Also, they misinterpreted the bible to suit an unbiblical narrative. The same book of Proverbs that says "Whosever findeth a wife finds a good thing&obtains favour from the Lord" is the same book that says, "A good wife is from the Lord".
How can a man find a good wife without God who gives good wife?
I am sure the writer cannot be contradicting himself on the same issue. Here lies the answer; finding a wife is not an adventure to do without God, he must be involved because he knows what is good for us. Our human wisdom&smartness is not good enough to choose a spouse. In marital matters, you do your finding with God as the principal lead counsel.
We live in a world that elevates common sense above divine sense, that accounts for the reason many have made wrong marital choices.
Proverbs 3:5-6 says, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. [6] Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take"( NLT).
As humans, we make decisions from the standpoint of what we see but God sees more than what our physical senses can see and perceive. Without God, our judgement will be flawed and selfish. That's why we need him. He knows what we don't know and sees what we don't see.
In a world where there are numerous options available, only God can give the best. God gives us spouses that suits his plans and purposes for our lives. God still leads in marital matters, don't ignore him.
