2Tim3:15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. KJV
DISCIPLESHIP TOOLS- THE BIBLE
When we were growing under our parents, mum bought jotters for us to jot our meditation from God's word. She demanded for it every day for marking. Though that didn't last forever but within the time frame we did that daily exercise, it built something into me. You're reading this daily devotional because writing lessons learnt from the bible has been part of me from my secondary school days. Someone built that discipline into me.
Aside that, there was a regular morning devotional session where the teaching of God's word was done daily. Though I lost it for sometime, but what I've learnt pulled me from waywardness. After Christ, one great gift we have received from God is the bible. 2Tim3:16-17 made it clear to us that: All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.
The principal tool for discipleship is the regular teaching of God's word. If the next generation wouldn't be 'Godless', we must engage the tool of God's word. Apostle Paul attested to the thorough discipleship process Timothy went through from childhood: 'And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus'. 2Tim3:15. Timothy knew the scriptures from childhood but children of today know more of cartoon, worldly music and movies more than the bible.
If we don't want to raise a Judges2:10 generation, we must engage the tool of God's word in discipleship.
