WRITING YOUR PARTING WORDS

July 02, 2019 · Lanre Oyeleke · 3 views

2 Timothy 4:7 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: 8 Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. KJV

One of the things that people take very serious is the parting words of a dying man. As a matter of fact, most people are always careful to keep the words spoken by their ancestors in their final moment. It could be a word of instruction or advice to the children and families. However, it is very rare to hear people sign out with words that shows that they have accomplished their purpose and fulfill their assignments on earth whereas, that's one of the most appropriate declarations that should be made after our sojourn here on earth.

Apostle Paul, having done all that the master commanded of him, he stated clearly about finishing his course here on earth. He exhausted all that heaven endowed him with in the fulfilment of his life's assignment, he died empty. He had an insight into what God would give to him as a reward on the last day- crown of righteousness. Not many people died with a sense of accomplishment. Jesus Christ made a bold declaration about concluding his assignment here on earth, he said: 'IT IS FINISHED', John19:30.

How good will it be at the end of our lives if we also come to that point where we can boldly tell those around us that we are done with our assignment here on earth. Many come to this world and they die without leaving their footprints in the sand of times. Heaven's record for some people reads 'absent', why? They have not resumed duty. Only those that are busy fulfilling their God-given purpose would be marked present. The day you start fulfilling your purpose here on earth is the day you start living. Don't abscond from duty.

Action point

Prayerfully ask God to reveal your life's assignment to you and release the grace to accomplish it before leaving this world.
