Judges 2:10 And also all that generation were gathered unto their fathers: and there arose another generation after them, which knew not the Lord, nor yet the works which he had done for Israel. KJV
I have interacted with believers who got born again in the 60s, 70s and 80s. Some of the things i keep hearing from them is not encouraging. They'll tell us how Christianity was those years,the purity among brethren, the unity and zeal for the things of God but they keep pointing at how things has nose-dived in our time. I kept asking whose fault it is but no one gave a reasonable answer not until i came across Judges 2:10. In the text, i found the answer.
A generation knew the Lord and died but another generation arose that knew not the Lord. The latter generation did not know the Lord because the former generation did not disciple them. Simple! They did not consciously teach the upcoming generation what they knew about the Lord. Probably, they assumed that the new generation would take after them automatically but it didn't happen that way. When elders in the faith point accusing fingers at this generation, they must be humble enough to admit that what has become of this generation is majorly(90%) their fault.
The next generation would not take after the previous if there is no conscious discipleship process in place. When the disciplers fail, the disciples go astray. It is a case of strike the shepherd and the sheep would scatter. If you are a Pastor, parent, an elder or a discipled Christian, you need to rise to the occasion before there would be none left to take after you especially in the things of God. The devil is discipling youths and teens using the media as a tool to teach anti-bible concepts of God, business, finance, marriage, life style and career yet all we do is to complain. We cannot afford to fail God in this anymore. The disciplers must arise.
Father, may i not fail in my role as a discipler In Jesus name.
