SUSTAINING RELATIONSHIPS

September 28, 2015 · Lanre Oyeleke · 2 views

Proverbs17:9 He that covereth a transgression seeketh love; but he that repeateth a matter separateth very friends

I read a quote recently on a friend's facebook page. He said 'God didn't make us to be dependent neither are we to be independent but he created us to be interdependent'. That quote speak volumes about our need for virile relationships. I believe that two good heads are better than one and that would remain a natural law till the earth vanishes.

Though we need relationships but not all of us have been able to sustain relationships. There were relationships that have immense benefit for the now and in the future but we didn't handle those relationships well because we kept repeating the offences our partner committed. As long as you keep referring to offences committed several years ago, you won't benefit maximally from that relationship.

As a husband, if you can't overlook the faults of your wife and you keep referring to her offences every time you have misunderstandings, your home may break soon. Relationships and homes break when partners refers to the offence(s) of yesteryears. If we would sustain our relationships be it business, marital or friendship, we must develop the capacity to forgive and ignore.

Offence(s) are inevitable in every relationship but how you handle them is what determines the sustenance of your relationship.

Action point

Father, I develop the capacity to forgive and ignore offence(s) In Jesus name. Amen
Our next outreach is a two-in-one event in a mountain and valley settlement. Oct29-Nov1st.
