Ecclesiastes5:10 He that loveth silver shall not be satisfied with silver; nor he that loveth abundance with increase: this is also vanity.
I read about a pastor that duped his member of a huge amount of money. He promised to pray on the cash for his member but he bolted. There are numerous cases of financial scandal both within and outside the church. The desire to get rich quick has led many into doom.
King Solomon was right when he said that those that crave for silver won't get enough of it. When all your pursuit is money and material things, you may die in the chase. There are people that desire the latest cars and technologies, they keep acquiring and lusting after carnal things. They sell the old model to buy the new whereas old models may be stronger and durable than the new but love to be 'en vogue'.
Do not place silver above God. Let the thoughts of heaven be on your mind. When we set our hearts on eternal things, the silver and gold of this world would mean nothing to us. If you still see the things of the world as a 'big deal' that you must have, you will never see the need for God and spending eternity with him.
Jim Reeves said 'I'll rather have Jesus than silver and gold. I'll rather have Jesus than houses and lands'.
Father, I receive grace to be dead to the silver and gold of this world In Jesus name. Amen
