There is a song that old timers sing which talks about fighting the devil before entering glory. While the song may make us feel there's a huge task ahead of us before we enter into glory, the lyrics is not in tandem with the new testament revelation. Christ has fought the devil and we don't need to do what he has done on the cross. Col1:12-14,2:14-15.
The only legitimate fight that we are to fight is the fight of faith. The battle over the devil and his cohorts has been fought and won in Christ's death, burial and resurrection. What we should do is to enforce victory through faith by standing on the finished work of Christ as revealed in the new testament.
Christ has healed you, he has delivered you from curses and other generational yokes. All you need do when the devil rear his ugly head is to put him where he belongs in the name of Jesus by standing in faith on God's word. Stop fighting a battle that has been won, start enforcing the victory of the battle that has been fought and won.
Father, I enforce the victory of the cross on every circumstance in my life that negates the victory of Christ and his finish work In Jesus name. Amen
