WHO IS THE HEAD OF THE CHURCH?

April 01, 2016 · Lanre Oyeleke · 2 views

Colossians1:18 Christ is also the head of the church, which is his body.

He is the beginning, supreme over all who rise from the dead. So he is first in everything. NLT

The church is from the word 'ecclessia' which means 'the called out'. The church refers to a people, not a building or a venue. We are the church, we are called out by Christ into his marvellous kingdom where he is the head, the general overseer and founder as well.

There are preachers that gave the headship of their denomination to themselves and not Christ. They believe whatever they say is final and no one can change it. That's totally unscriptural. Though God has placed some of his sons as leaders of his Church but they are just like supervisors that will give account on the last day. It is a misnomer for a supervisor to use bogus titles for himself if Christ is truly the head of that church.

I marvel when I see preachers with bogus titles like 'His Grace', 'His Eminence', etc. Some are even called 'Lord Bishop', it is high time we realise that Christ alone deserves all the glory and not us. We are just supervisors. We have disunity in the body of Christ today because some supervisors are beginning to teach their own philosophy and not what Christ (the owner of the church) teaches.

As a minister of the gospel, let it be known that you are a servant under the owner of the church- CHRIST.
