Phil2:22 But you know that Timothy has proved himself, because as a son with his father he has served with me in the work of the gospel.
Years back, I read a minister's handbook written by a foremost preacher in the world. He has been to Nigeria severally and his ministry has blessed a lot of people in the world. In his book, he regreted not serving under a pastor before establishing his own ministry. While that sounds somehow to the undiscerning, it has deep spiritual implications.
To succeed in ministry even in business and other ventures, God uses the time of service to groom us, prepare us and to make us what he wants us to be. Those that do not serve cannot pick up the mantle of their master. Elisha benefitted from Elijah because he served. Timothy served under Paul. Don't stay under a Pastor that hasn't served, he cannot be a true father because he wasn't fathered.
Even the disciples couldn't start out in ministry not until they were discipled by Jesus, little wonder why their ministry still impacts the world today. Dear young preacher, don't start out in zeal, ministry requires mentorship. In the bible, young prophets learn under a senior prophet. Even Samuel couldn't become a national prophet not until he served under Eli.
Be a true son to a father in ministry and don't be a spiritual bastard. Locate your father and serve till God release you.
