Luke24:45 Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures.
After the resurrection of Jesus, two disciples were walking on the way to Emmaus talking about the death of Jesus. The risen Christ joined them and reminded them about what books of prophesy said about Jesus and how he would be delivered unto death and his resurrection. Jesus spoke with them and vanished from their sight. It was until then they knew it was Christ speaking to them.
Later, he joined them at the table, he broke bread and their eyes were opened. They knew the scripture and what has been written about Jesus but they didn't understand. It is one thing to know about a thing, it is another thing to understand what is known. Many have gone to seminary, conferences and conventions without understanding the scriptures.
The scriptures cannot profit you until you understand it. Proper understanding of the scriptures is what would deliver you from error and prevent you from being tossed to and fro by every wind of doctrine. The Spirit of God is the conveyor of understanding, do not study the scriptures without him.
Father, I pray for a clear understanding of the scriptures by the Spirit In Jesus name. Amen
