John1:5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
If you live in my country, I strongly believe that you'll understand what darkness means because of the erratic power supply. I have lived in the village before and those could define darkness better because most houses do not have electric connection and there are bushes around. You can mistakenly step on a crawling reptile at night because there's no light.
The whole is regarded as a dark place. Even in countries where there is constant power supply, it is still dark because anywhere evil reigns, darkness is dominant there. With darkness comes evil works and retrogression. Man was born into darkness and is under the leadership of the power of darkness.
Jesus came as the ultimate light to dispel all forms of darkness. Once you accept Jesus into your life, darkness is bound to disappear with their works. Sickness, frustration, joblessness, barreness, retrogression and untimely death are the works of darkness. If you can accept Jesus and allow the word-light to be your compass, darkness will disappear.
