John8:31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, if ye continued in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed.
I have been amongst Christians that belong to a discipleship training system. Sometimes, they ask other Christians if they are disciples (referring to membership of their discipleship class). Though not really bad an idea to ask if they belong to an organized discipleship training class but true discipleship cannot be defined by affiliation to any discipleship class.
A true disciple is simply someone that obeys God's word. Jesus made it clear that If we continue in his word, then we are true disciples. It doesn't matter if the name of your church has the word 'disciples' in it. If you are not following Christ to the letter, you are not a disciple. Discipleship is more than a training or a movement but rather a life style of total submission to God.
I am not against discipleship classes. I am a fan of training and teaching but my point is that discipleship is not an automatic status conferred because you belong to a discipleship class but rather, a reflection of Christ life in you. Are you a true disciple of Christ? Are you following the footsteps of Christ? Is your life in total conformity to God's word and his will?
Don't rush in answering the questions above, reflect on your life in its entirety to know where you stand.
Father, I receive grace to walk worth of you In Jesus name. Amen
