LOOKING FORWARD TO HIS COMING

April 05, 2015 · Lanre Oyeleke · 2 views

1Thes1:10 And they speak of how you are looking forward to the coming of God's Son from heaven—Jesus, whom God raised from the dead. He is the one who has rescued us from the terrors of the coming judgment. NLT

When I got born-again newly, there was a very high expectation about the Lord's return. The messages we heard those days laid more emphasis about rapture, the great tribulation, armageddon war, millenial reign, new heaven and new earth. They picture of those future events were engrafted in our hearts. Most of the time, we'll pray and stay in reverence awe of God expecting the trumpet to blow.

Though our expectation was basically premised on fear especially when certain scripture were read into our hearing. I was always fearful of hearing about the anti-christ. Though as I grew in the Lord, I have learnt to expect his return in love. When I did a little survey of Christians today, many live in expectation of something else apart from the coming of the coming of the Lord.

This is the reason for a careless Christian life lived by some believers today. The blessed hope of eternity isn't in-view as many have placed all their hopes on mundane things. They feed their minds and spirit with messages that'll show them nothing but the earth and all that is in it which will pass away very soon. Whether we like to hear it or not, Jesus is coming very soon.

Our salvation is nearer than ever and we must live ready daily in expectation of that day.

Action point

Father, I receive grace to live in preparation for your coming In Jesus name. Amen
