Joshua3:5 And Joshua said unto the people, Sanctify yourselves: for to morrow the Lord will do wonders among you.
When Joshua started to lead the children of Israel, God gave him the mandate of possessing the lands but there were battles to fight. He had to confront the heathen nations whose armies were skilled and large so as to obtain the promise land. To fight them and win would be a miracle because of their military might.
Joshua knew the secret to victory and he wanted to God move amidst them unhindered. He made a declaration that all Israelites should sanctify(cleanse&purify) themselves so that they can see the wonders of God. Sanctification is a precursor to wonders. While that sounds like an unpopular message today but the nature of God remains thesame through all ages.
There are dimensions of the miraculous and the supernatural that is an exclusive reserve of those that are sanctified and are living it out. God wants his power to be made known, he still wants to perform wonders like the days of yore but he needs a pure conduit through which he can flow.
The power of God is readily available to any man who is a pure vessel that can conduct the flow unhindered.
Father, sanctify me
