JOSHUA GENERATION?

April 29, 2015 · Lanre Oyeleke · 3 views

Joshua13:1-Now Joshua was old and stricken in years; and the Lord said unto him, Thou art old and stricken in years, and there remaineth yet very much land to be possessed. KJV

Moses handed over the reins of leadership to Joshua and he was expected to take them to the promise land and to reclaim all the lands that God has promised them. Moses couldn't enter the promise land because of his faux pas but God's expectation of Joshua was that he would take ALL the lands and conquer the heathen for the Children of Israel.

When Joshua was old, we were told that there were lands yet un possessed which God expected him to possess. He didn't fulfil all of God's plan for his leadership mandate. I have heard a lot of preachers talk about belonging to the Joshua generation. I don't belong there. If you want to know a man that came and fulfilled all of God's plan and purpose for his life, look at Jesus and Paul.

When Jesus finished his assignment, he said 'It is finished'(John 19:30). Paul also said 'he has fought the good fight of faith, he has finished the race(talking about his purpose), he has kept the faith and he knew there was in stock for him a crown of righteousness'. I have a mentor in Jesus and Paul, definitely not Joshua who at old age still has a lot of grounds to cover.

I don't want to get old and hear God say 'Son, you still have lots to do that is yet undone'. I want to finish my part of the deal,my assignment and purpose here on earth must be finished. What about you?

Action point

Father, I receive grace to finish all that you've assigned me to do here on earth before coming home to be with you In Jesus name.
