GOD-ORDAINED POWERS

April 22, 2015 · Lanre Oyeleke · 2 views

Rom13:1 Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.

Many years ago, a minister in the federal cabinet quoted the above scripture to the people because of the action of house demolishing that he took. The word is straight and clear about it, the leaders in your community, state and at the federal level were ordained by God to be there and thus, we must obey them.

Though God may not commission them but at least, he permitted them to get there so that they can put certain things in place. Some christians break laws and constitute nuissance in the society. Can you imagine a Christian driving on a one-way road in the opposite direction? God sees obedience to earthly leadership as obedience to him especially in civil laws.

A christian shouldn't be caught evading tax nor littering the streets. If the government wants a clean environment, you should know that it is for our common good. We must be ambassadors of peace, civility and orderliness as believers. Our light must shine in our society not just in the church.

Action point

Father, I receive grace to be an ambassador of civility&orderliness in the society In Jesus name. Amen
