Rom13:8 Owe no man any thing, but to love one another:...
When I was in believers class, one of the topics we were taught as foundational topics to learn was about debt. I wonder why the scripture would be so straight on such an issue but I know if it doesn't have relevance to our lives, God wouldn't put it there. The scripture is there to help put our lives in order even areas where we don't really see as important.
God doesn't want his children to live&bask in debt. There are believers that glory in debt. They are good at borrowing but poor at returning. They can even put up a fight with their lender or ignore him to avoid repayment. Is God saying it is a sin to borrow? No, but what that scripture is saying is that we shouldn't be like those that borrow and ignore repayment.
Some believers, because they want to live an ostentatious life, they go borrowing and do not repay because they lack the financial capacity to return it. Such attitude is wrong. Do not take a loan that you cannot return. It becomes a crime to go borrowing when you cannot repay your debt.
The only debt that you should owe is the debt to love and nothing more. If you've borrowed something that you haven't returned, make plans for repayment.
Father, I come out of debt and I receive grace to be financially disciplined In Jesus name. Amen
