WHY I BELIEVE JESUS IS GOD Pt.6
Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.NLT
THE SALVATION QUESTION
Is salvation possible without the involvement of God? For me, this is the most important question we need to ask as touching the deity of Christ. When we talk about salvation, it is a very deep spiritual subject. Mankind in his fallen state is doomed for death ( spiritual and eternal death) because Romans 6:23 says, "For the wages of sin is death,..." The sin nature is not our fault, we inherited that fallen and sinful nature from Adam: "When Adam sinned, sin entered the world. Adam’s sin brought death, so death spread to everyone, for everyone sinned" (Romans 5:12 NLT). The unregenerated mankind is a sinner not because he sinned but by nature. The penalty for the sin of Adam is death. We all inherited Spiritual death (separation from God) from Adam and doomed for eternal death (suffering in the lake of fire): "For the sin of this one man, Adam, caused death to rule over many..." (Romans 5:17 NLT). The sin of Adam made man hopelessly doomed for eternal death not until Christ stepped in to change the narrative.
This despicable situation of mankind made God to send Christ to save us from the disaster Adam brought on us all: "Yes, Adam’s one sin brings condemnation for everyone, but Christ’s one act of righteousness brings a right relationship with God and new life for everyone"( Romans 5:18 NLT). Hallelujah!!! Spiritual death is the first disaster Adam brought on us. This is a total separation from God. It is a breakdown of fellowship and a state of insensitivity to divinity. This can be remedied in Christ. The second disaster Adam brought on mankind is eternal death- suffering in the lake of fire. It is also called second death. This is the destiny of all unregenerated man and it is the most painful of all deaths. It is eternal: “But cowards, unbelievers, the corrupt, murderers, the immoral, those who practice witchcraft, idol worshipers, and all liars—their fate is in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death”(Rev.21:8 NLT). Do you think the blood of man like you and me can save man from all these? This is what I want you to see in this. Can the sacrifice of a finite man appease the wrath of an infinite God? Think!
Only the blood of God( Jesus) can save and rescue man from spiritual death and the wrath to come. To achieve this, God the father sent God the son( the second person in the trinity) to take the form of man to die for sinful man so that man can be saved: "For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ"(2 Corinthians 5:21 NLT). This is deep and it is a mystery. That a holy God took the form of man, came to die for me to deliver me from the wrath to come is worth thanksgiving all day: "He himself is the sacrifice that atones for our sins—and not only our sins but the sins of all the world" (1 John 2:2 NLT). Religious people are trying to use good works, animal sacrifice to achieve salvation yet we have it freely because we believe in the finished work of Christ for our salvation on the cross: "He did not enter by means of the blood of goats and calves; but he entered the Most Holy Place once for all by his own blood, thus obtaining eternal redemption"( Hebrews 9:12). Hallelujah!!! We have eternal salvation through Christ. If Jesus Christ is not God, your salvation and mine wouldn't have been possible because the blood of a mere man like us isn't potent to restore man to fellowship with God and deliver mankind from the penalty of sin. If you want to give your life to Christ and be saved, say this prayer:
"Father, I know I'm a sinner. Forgive me of my sins. Wash me with the precious blood of Jesus. I believe he died and resurrected for my redemption. I confess Jesus Christ as my Lord and personal saviour, in Jesus name. Amen."
