DISTINCT ROLES OF THE GODHEAD(C)
There's no way you'll read the bible from the first book to the sixty-sixth book without coming to a conclusion in favour of the holy Trinity. Not that alone, if you read the scriptures with the Holy Spirit as your guide, you will clearly see the roles of each member of the Trinity. In creation, the Holy Spirit was involved: "The earth was formless and empty, and darkness covered the deep waters. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters"(Genesis 1:2 NLT). In the book of Job, it is clearly stated that the Holy Spirit made the heavens beautiful. It is obvious that He has a 'making' power, a creative power: "His Spirit made the heavens beautiful, and his power pierced the gliding serpent"( Job 26:13 NLT). Do not forget that in Genesis 1:26, God said, "Let us make man in our image...". The pronoun "us" shows that God was speaking to more than one person. The "us" in that text obviously refers to the person of Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. The Spirit of God was present and involved in creation.
Another work of the Spirit is divine revelation. He is the conveyor of God's mind to us on issues that pertains to us: "When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own but will tell you what he has heard. He will tell you about the future"(John 16:13). The Spirit of God is a revealer of deep secrets and truths. If there's any issue that is unclear to you, ask Him. When you hear a true believer saying, "Thus saith the Lord", or may be "God said". You may wonder how they heard God. That's the Holy Spirit at work. He takes what's on the mind of the father and reveal to us. About God's mysterious plans, Paul said, "God did not reveal it to previous generations, but now by his Spirit he has revealed it to his holy apostles and prophets"(Eph 3:5 NLT). All that the Apostles and prophets said and wrote were revealed by the Holy Spirit. That's the reason I treasure what is written in scriptures, it is innerant. Peter said, "Above all, you must realize that no prophecy in Scripture ever came from the prophet’s own understanding, or from human initiative. No, those prophets were moved by the Holy Spirit, and they spoke from God"(2 Peter 1:20-21 NLT). The scriptures is inspired by the Holy Spirit, don't trivialise your bible.
Jesus operated in the miraculous by the power and anointing of the Spirit: "And you know that God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. Then Jesus went around doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him"( Acts 10:38 NLT). The Spirit of God play a vital role in salvation. A believer cannot claim to have eternal life without the Holy Spirit: "he saved us, not because of the righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He washed away our sins, giving us a new birth and new life through the Holy Spirit"(Titus 3:5 NLT). The Spirit of God is the executor of God's program on earth, salvation inclusive. You have been made holy by the power of the Spirit. Peter said, "God the Father knew you and chose you long ago, and his Spirit has made you holy. As a result, you have obeyed him and have been cleansed by the blood of Jesus Christ. May God give you more and more grace and peace."(1 Peter 1:2 NLT). Hallelujah!!! I'm made holy by the Spirit of God.
