HOW I WON THE BATTLE AGAINST GUILT& CONDEMNATION
Heb8:12 And I will forgive their wickedness, and I will never again remember their sins.” NLT
There was a season in my life I came under intense attack of guilt and condemnation. I can't find the exact words to explain what I went through. What made it worse was that I kept hearing voices always accusing me. I almost ran mad because I kept hearing accusing voices and I felt condemned and unworthy of God totally. I lost the conviction about the cleansing power in the blood of Jesus and my thoughts about God's forgiving power came under intense attack of doubt and fear. I was carrying too heavy a load around. I was weakened spiritually. The devil played videos of my past to me, brought memories of my past failures and almost snuffed out my joy and liberty in Christ. At a time, I felt so unworthy of God.
My liberation came through the word of God. I read the text above and I took it personal. God's word is saying to you and me that your sins will not be put to rememberance anymore. One of the things that kills faith is guilt and condemnation. The moment you set out to pray and ask God for the things you desire, the enemy has a way of bringing your past to your memory then you become weak and prayerless. No matter how bad your past is, the moment you come to Christ, your sins are washed away without a dot remaining: "Come now, let’s settle this,” says the Lord. “Though your sins are like scarlet, I will make them as white as snow. Though they are red like crimson, I will make them as white as wool"(Isaiah 1:18 NLT). Is the devil condemning you and taking you on a guilt trip based on your past? Simply let him know that you have been forgiven completely because God's promise is that He would forgive your shortcomings completely as long as genuine repentance is constant.
Your forgiveness is not an emotional thing neither is it dependent on how you feel but on God's word. The nature of God's forgiveness cannot be understood by the carnal mind: "I, even I, am he who blots out your transgressions, for my own sake, and remembers your sins no more"( Isa 43:25). God chooses to forgive and forget our sins for His sake not even for our sake. If you slip into guilt over your past, simply know the enemy is at work. You just have to believe God's word for what it says. If God's word says you're forgiven, that's it nothing can change it. When we don't believe God's word enough, the devil will make us doubt scriptures like this and use our emotional feelings to get us. Believing God's word about your forgiveness and righteous status doesn't depend on how you feel but about His word: “For ever, O Lord, thy word is settled in heaven” (Psalm 119:89). No matter how bad your past was, a drop of Christ's blood has a strong cleansing power. Throw the feelings of guilt away and stick to your faith in the scripture above.
CONFESSING: I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus, I rise above condemnation, shame and guilt. I am in God's love camp and I refuse perpetual guilt and shame In Jesus name. Amen
