WHY I BELIEVE JESUS IS GOD Pt.5

Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.NLT

I believe in the authority of scripture. I believe in the deity of Jesus Christ because God's word say so. Jesus is the second person in the Godhead. He is the son of God and He is God. Another profound scriptures confirming His deity can be found in Hebrews 1:8 where God the father called the son God: "But to the Son( Jesus) he( God the father,) says, “Your throne, O God, endures forever and ever. You rule with a scepter of justice"( Emphasis mine). That's no mistake. It is deliberate. God the father addressed the son saying "Your throne, O God". He could have said, "Your throne, O mere mortal". Jesus is not a mere mortal, not a messenger nor another prophet, He is God. Often, people reject this truth because all they see is his incarnation and not his divinity. In one of the old testament prophecies, he was called God: "For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders. And he will be called: Wonderful Counselor, MIGHTY GOD, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace"(Isaiah 9:6 NLT). Jesus is a mighty God.

Let's consider what Paul said about His deity. Apostle Paul is the most hated of writers in the bible because his depth of revelation is uncommon. Bible critics don't hate Paul. Some accused him of bringing "Romanism" or "Hellenism" into his writings. Paul didn't dilute scriptures, he expounded on it better because the Holy Spirit revealed mysteries to him: "Dear brothers and sisters, I want you to understand that the gospel message I preach is not based on mere human reasoning. I received my message from no human source, and no one taught me. Instead, I received it by direct revelation from Jesus Christ"( Galatians 1:11-12 NLT). Pauline revelations are divine. Now, about the deity of Jesus, Pauline writings confirmed it further: "while we look forward with hope to that wonderful day when the glory of our GREAT GOD AND SAVIOR, JESUS CHRIST, will be revealed"( Titus 2:13 NLT). In context, Jesus is referred to as "Great God and Saviour". He is the soon coming king. Hallelujah!!!

In Philippians 2:5-6, Paul confirmed the deity of Jesus and showed his subordination in the Godhead, lesson of submission and humility for all: "You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had. Though he was God, he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to"(Philippians 2:5-6 NLT). Here, Paul confirmed to us that Jesus was God even in his incarnation but he chose to be lowly and subordinate to God the father however, that didn't reduce Him or change his status as God. He is co equal, co eternal with the father yet he chose to submit to the father as the second person in the Godhead. If you doubt this coequality,co eternality with God the father, read this: "For it pleased the Father for all the fullness [of deity—the sum total of His essence, all His perfection, powers, and attributes] to dwell [permanently] in Him (the Son),"(Colossians 1:19 AMP). What other evidences do we need? The bible says He is God. I believe it. If Christ is not revealed to you in your heart by the Holy Spirit, you will keep arguing with this truth. Ask the Lord to reveal Christ to you.
