UNLEASH YOUR CHILD-LIKE FAITH
Mark 10:14-15 Let the children come to me; do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God. Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it"
As a young father, I've learnt a lot observing my children. They ask for so many things believing they will get it. A sister said her son asked her saying, "Mummy, buy me a giant". I was like that when I was their age. When i was around 7 years of age, my younger sister and I used to pray for the restoration of electric power supply. We got answers. In fact, whenever there's power outage and our big sisters and brothers are in desperate need of electric power, they'll call on me and my younger sister to pray. We were young and our minds were devoid of impossibilities. We didn't know that certain factors led to power outage, all we wanted was power supply so that we can watch television. We normally go on our knees for power to be restored. Today, I doubt if I have that kind of faith because I'm full of information that fuels unbelief in that regard.
The mind of a child knows no impossibility. Can I still pray for power restoration like i use to? I doubt if I can. Why? Now i know there's something called power generation, transmission and distribution. So in my mind, i'll try to find out what the problem could be and how it maybe impossible to get the power restored on time. Sometimes, knowing too much is an enemy of faith. When Jesus advocated for Child-likeness in kingdom matters, he knew perfectly that the innocence and child-like heart is the best way to relate with God. Yes it is. Children don't keep grudges. If they fight with one another, they become playmate again the next moment. Their faith flow freely unhindered because their mind isn't burdened with guilt and cares.
It is possible to get to a point in our walk with God where it may be hard to believe God for miracles because of familiarity. This is very common to those that have been in church for years. We may become too familiar with God, His servants and sacred things and they lose value in our eyes. You'll see new converts obey every instruction and they'll go home with answers but oldies analyse everything before acting and even when they do, their hearts are full of "If's". Sometimes, the worst set of people to preach to and get them have faith for miracles are preachers especially theologians. They may be looking for exegetical and homiletical loopholes in your message and thereby losing out. If you're in that category, please repent. Scientists can be worse too. Your attainment in God or science shouldn't block you from experiencing divine possibilities. Children trust their parents for everything and they demand for costly things ignorantly. Their believe is that daddy is so rich and can buy anything for them. When will you start trusting God like that? When will you start asking for big things? Looking at the economy, you may ask God for "reasonable" miracle because your faith can't carry the "exceeding abundantly" dimension of God. God doesn't perform miracles using human parameters. Paul said: "Now unto him that is able to do EXCEEDING ABUNDANTLY above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us"(Ephesians 3:20 KJV). Your child-like faith is the key to operating in the realm of "exceeding abundantly".
Switch on that child-like faith in you and ask for whatever you want from God without doubting in your heart(Mark11:23-24). Ask Him for big things.
