The concept of rest that God was trying to teach the Jews when he gave the laws of the sabbath can be better understood in Christ. In the time of Moses, Sabbath was a day of rest but in this dispensation of grace, Christ is our rest. Trying to attain salvation through works of the law is works but believing in the finished work of Christ is rest. Glory!
As a believer, you need rest. When you believe in the finished work of Christ on the cross and you accept it, you are resting but those that want to use the arm of flesh to please God and attain salvation through works would always be in turmoil. A man said that the natural man loves free things but when it comes to salvation, he resorts to religion.
Some Jews did not believe in the finished work of Christ on the cross, they wanted to add something to what has been done. A song writer said 'it is enough that Jesus died and that he died for me'. The death of Jesus is enough for my salvation, healing, prosperity and deliverance. I don't need to do anything special to attain all that anymore, faith in the finished works of Christ is the key.
CONFESSION: I accept the finished works of Christ so I rest from the works of the law. I rest from the fear of death so that I won't die again, I live above only and not beneath In Jesus name.
